Mexico is a country that inspires confidence due to its vast and diverse cultural identity. Its color, joy, festivals, and numerous celebrations are internationally recognized for their significance and what they represent.
The cultural richness of Mexico is connected to the diversity of absolutely everything, such as gastronomy, festivals, and the variety of spoken languages. Even though the main language is Spanish, 68 indigenous languages are still spoken. Mexico possesses a unique and exceptional character.
Each month of the year has something to celebrate, whether religious or not. Some of the highlighted months include:
January: Three Kings' Day
It is a celebration of the Catholic faith on January 6 each year, where it is customary to give gifts to the youngest members of families and share a bread called "rosca," which contains hidden small figurines.
April: San Marcos Fair
Celebrated in the state of Aguascalientes, it begins in the second half of March and throughout April. The most important day is April 25, coinciding with the feast day of San Marcos. Cultural activities, bullfights, exhibitions, mechanical games, concerts, and competitions are organized.
July: Guelaguetza
Held in the state of Oaxaca, it is a cultural event showcasing traditional dances, music, and gastronomy of the country.
September: Tequila and Mariachi Festival
One of the most significant months as it commemorates the independence of Mexico. Additionally, festivals like the Tequila Festival in Ciudad Juarez offer a combination of mariachi music, a sense of national pride, and, above all, the enjoyment of tequilas.
October: International Cervantino Festival
Held in the state of Guanajuato, it is a space dedicated to literature and culture.
November: International Balloon Festival
It takes place in Guanajuato. They are hot air balloons that soar over the city.
These are just a few celebrations/festivals in Mexico, but there are many more throughout the year. Therefore, considering an extended stay in the country can be an enriching experience for the culture and soul of every visitor.
